Used Wera

German tool company with a design-first streak — the ergonomic handles, the green-and-black, the lasertip. Screwdrivers that people actively search for used, which is unusual for screwdrivers.

📈 Current listings pulled: $15 – $237 • Updated September 5, 2026

Kraftform Plus and Kraftform Micro sets. The lasertip is the thing to check — it should still grip a screw head. Sets in the original box or rack sell better than loose.

Ratchets & Sockets (Zyklop)

All current listings on eBay →

Zyklop Speed (swivel head), Zyklop Metal, Zyklop Hybrid. 8004 A/B/C are 1/4", 3/8", 1/2". Check the swivel locks in all positions and the fine-tooth mechanism clicks cleanly.

The 6003 Joker (combination) and 6004 Joker (self-setting spanner). Check the ratcheting box end and, on 6004, that the self-setting jaw locks. Sets are the value.

Tool-Check Plus, Bit-Check sets, Kraftform Kompakt. The most counterfeited Wera products — read the fakes section before buying any bit set.

What Wera is

Wera is a family-owned German toolmaker from Wuppertal — same city as Knipex — best known for screwdrivers and bits. Its signature is the Kraftform handle, shaped to fit the hand rather than to look like a screwdriver, and the lasertip, a micro-roughened blade tip that grips the screw head so the driver doesn't cam out. Production is in Germany and at Wera's plant in the Czech Republic; both are Wera-spec.

Wera has expanded into ratchets (Zyklop), wrenches (Joker), and compact bit systems (Kraftform Kompakt, Tool-Check). The whole line shares a design language — the green-black-yellow-red color coding, the "Take It Easy" size markings — that makes it easy to recognize and, unfortunately, easy to counterfeit.

Wera also uses long 11-digit article numbers (05xxxxxxxxx) on packaging. Sellers use both. The series name — "Zyklop 8004 B" — is what to search.

Fakes

Counterfeit Wera is concentrated in bits and compact sets — Tool-Check Plus, Bit-Check, Kraftform Kompakt — because they're small, popular, and easy to copy the packaging of. Full-size screwdrivers and Zyklop ratchets are faked less. Tells:

  • Price. "New" Tool-Check Plus at a third of retail is fake.
  • Bit markings. Genuine Wera bits have crisp laser markings with the size and "Wera." Fakes are fuzzy or missing.
  • Lasertip. Under magnification, genuine lasertip is a fine, even texture. Fakes are smooth or crudely roughened.
  • Color and finish. Wera's color-coded rings and handle colors are consistent. Fakes drift — slightly wrong greens, glossier plastics.
  • Case and packaging. Real Wera cases fit precisely and print cleanly. Fakes have loose-fitting inserts and blurred graphics.

What to inspect

  • Lasertip condition. It wears eventually. Ask if the tip still bites; a photo under good light helps.
  • Zyklop swivel lock. Should lock positively at each detent. A loose swivel is a worn detent.
  • Zyklop ratchet click. Fine-tooth mechanism, should be crisp. Wera's are rebuildable but not cheaply.
  • Joker box end. Ratcheting mechanism engages cleanly; on 6004, the self-setting jaw locks and releases.
  • Handle condition. Kraftform handles are two-material; the softer zones can get chewed by solvents. Cosmetic, but check.
  • Set completeness against the set number.

Where the value is

Full-size Kraftform screwdriver sets and Zyklop ratchets — the items that aren't faked much and that last. Joker wrench sets are also solid used. The worst value is any compact bit set from an unverified seller; the risk of a fake outweighs the discount.

Common questions about used Wera

What is the Wera lasertip?

A micro-roughened texture on the screwdriver blade tip that grips the screw head and reduces cam-out. It wears with heavy use; check it on used drivers.

What do A, B and C mean on Zyklop ratchets?

Drive size. A is 1/4", B is 3/8", C is 1/2". So an 8004 B is the 3/8" Zyklop Speed.

Which Wera products get counterfeited?

Mostly the compact bit sets — Tool-Check Plus, Bit-Check, Kraftform Kompakt — and loose bits. Full-size screwdrivers and Zyklop ratchets are copied far less.
