Why used air tools are different
An air impact wrench is a motor with a set of vanes, a hammer mechanism, and an anvil. All three are wear parts, all three are replaceable, and on an Ingersoll Rand tool the parts are cheap and everywhere. That changes the used calculus completely: a used 2135TiMAX that's lost torque isn't broken, it needs a vane kit and maybe a hammer kit, and it comes back to spec. You're buying a housing and a reputation, and paying accordingly.
The one thing that can't be fixed cheaply is a cracked housing or a stripped anvil retainer, and those come from abuse — dropping the tool or running it dry. Ask about oiling. A seller who says "I oiled it every day" is telling you something real.
The counterfeit 2135
The 2135TiMAX is popular enough to have attracted fakes, mostly from overseas sellers. Tells: price far below retail on a "new" tool; the IR logo and model markings molded or printed shallowly instead of crisply; a hammer case that's painted rather than the distinctive titanium finish; and a seller with dozens of identical new listings and no used inventory. A used, oil-stained genuine 2135 from a mechanic's cleanout is a safer buy than a "new" one from someone you can't verify.
Warranty
IR air tools carry limited warranties of a year or two depending on the line, tied to the original purchase. Not a factor for a used buyer. What matters instead is parts availability, and IR's is as good as it gets.
Where the value is
Die grinders and air ratchets — cheap, common, and a vane kit away from new. The 231C is the other one: it's been in production so long that used examples are everywhere and parts are trivial, and it's a genuinely good 1/2" impact. Compressors are the big-ticket value if you can pick up locally and the tank checks out; a used two-stage 2475 for a fraction of new is a shop upgrade.
The worst value is a "new" 2135 from an unknown seller.

What does TiMAX mean?
Ti is titanium — the hammer case material, for weight — and MAX is the current generation of that model line. A Q in the name means the quieter version.
What should I check on a used IR compressor?
Pump hours and oil condition, tank manufacture date and any rust at the drain, and whether the pressure switch, unloader and check valve work. A tank past its service life is a safety issue regardless of how good the pump is.
